We are pleased to announce the University of Sargodha as a prominent public university in Pakistan's Punjab region. It all began in 1929 with the founding of De'Montmorency College, which was eventually renamed Government College and granted the University Charter in 2002.
The University of Sargodha now has over 24,000 students and 800 faculty members, including 300 PhDs, in 21 departments, three institutes, one school, and five constituent colleges that fall under the seven faculties of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Science, and Technology. Around 1,200 administrative personnel support them. In addition, the University has 260 associated government and private colleges around the province.
Sargodha University has cutting-edge teaching and research facilities, such as well-equipped classrooms, labs, and a large library collection with online access to books and journals. Over a dozen hostels cater exclusively to female students, with a small number of male students. With an inexpensive price structure, the University offers needy and meritorious students a variety of scholarships, internships, and business possibilities. While the Internship Program and Career Development Center provide hands-on training to prepare students for competitive future jobs, two E-Rozgaar centres, one on the main campus and one on the sub-campus, allow them to make money through online freelance entrepreneurship. The Incubation Centre provides a chance for innovative students to begin meaningful professions prior to graduation.
Its main campus is green and quiet, and it is located in the centre of Sargodha city. The cultivation of critical thinking and scholarship among the university's students and young professors is a top priority. Every semester, it hosts a range of academic, co-curricular, and athletic events, including as seminars and conferences, a sports gala, and a literary festival. The university also has an FM radio station that provides information and education to students and others in the area.
The University has established vibrant institutions to ensure productive research, such as the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization, and the Quality Enhancement Cell, which has assisted faculty in sciences and agriculture in registering several international patents, as well as funding research projects and publications and connecting academic research with the local economy. For professors, staff, and students, the university maintains a Citrus Nursery and manufactures its own mineral water, KhusAab. It also has a long history of community involvement, with its Medical Complex and Research Centre providing telemedicine, outpatient clinics, pharmacy, and diagnostic services to both university students and employees as well as city residents.
Academic exchange agreements exist between Sargodha University and prominent Chinese agriculture universities such as Lanzhou University and South China Agriculture University. It also works with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Wide Fund for Nature, and a number of other prestigious national and international research and teaching organisations. In partnership with Henan Normal University in China, Pakistan's fifth Confucius Institute was founded at the University in 2019.
In the near future, the University has a bold plan for quality-driven academic expansion. Its long-term goal is to establish itself as a regional centre for higher education in Pakistan and South Asia.
